I love baseball. If you know me, you know how passionate I am over this sport. I played it from T-Ball until my late 20's before switching to softball. I love the game and the strategic thinking it takes to "throw the cheese"n as much as it takes to waiting for your pitch. So, I really can just watch baseball at any level and still do.
As tonight's All Star game approaches, I was reminded of one of my earlier images that I created when I began photographing still lifes that I created in my studio. "Play Ball" is one such image.
To create this image, I used an American Flag, a vintage 1950’s era ball and mitt and Brian Fisher’s Major League baseball bat. Brian was a MLB pitcher from the mid 80’s to early 90’s and was kind enough to loan me his bat for this photograph.
As a personal side note, Brian is so down to earth. While he may never be in the Hall of Fame, he continues to coach High School pitchers, and still throws in a competitive league. I'm sure I could never hit his heater, but I bet it would be fun to just try if only it was just once.
