In May of 2016 I was lucky enough to photograph a B-17 using reenactment actors, props, and even a few Rosie the Riveters. It was a great experience but what most impressed me with these ladies and gents who played their roles, was the extensive amount of knowledge that they shared. There was no doubt that they knew their stuff.
So, when it came time to create this new series of images, I knew I had my work cut out for me. Chasing down authentic WWII era gear and accessories is not easy. However, I like a challenge and I began the hunt.

I like simple compositions. Many times, a simple composition tells the story. Here, on the cover of this authentic May, 1944 issue of Life, the cover tells the story of an Airman telling a young lad, a story of how planes take off in pursuit of the enemy.
With that in mind, I placed the flight bag and flight case along with the Army Air Corps Crush Cap and period correct sunglasses to create this scene.
The cover story became the name of this image.
